File menu
This menu lists all the functions, which you can perform on the osFinancials program to create a new Set of Books, open, close or delete any existing Sets of Books or to exit the program. You may also save a Set of Books with a different name on your system or manage and protect your data of a selected Set of Books by making backups and restore the data from backup disk. You may also rebuild the data in a Set of Books if necessary.
To Access the File Menu:
- Click on the File menu option.
- Keyboard Access: Press the Alt+F keys on your keyboard.
A list of the nine menu options on the file menu is displayed.
- The available short cut keys to access the options from your keyboard are indicated next to the menu option. - Select one of the available options:
- Open Set of Books - You may open any of the existing templates and tutorials which have been installed or any Set of Books which you may have created using the Create Set of Books menu option.
- Create Set of Books - You may create a new Set of Books using any of the following options on the creation wizard:
- Let osFinancials Help you to create a Set of Books - Create a new Set of Books where you may select a template and then osFinancials will take you through the process. During this process, you may select to set the information and cost of sales parameters for stock items, or not. For further information, please read the following topics:
- Copy an existing Set of Books - Create an exact copy of a Set of Books on your system.
- Create a Set of Books (Advanced) (This option should be used by more advanced users).
- The default number of characters for the account codes in a Set of Books is 3-digits. You may, on the Advanced option, select to create a Set of Books with 4-digits or 5-digit account codes.
- Convert from TurboCASH 3 to osFinancials 1 - This option will scan and convert TurboCASH version 3x Sets of Books on your system to osFinancials program.
- Convert from TurboCASH 4 to osFinancials 1 - This option will scan and convert TurboCASH version 4x Sets of Books on your system to osFinancials program.
- Connect to a Database (Set of Books) from a Remote Server - Connect to a valid Database to access the Set of books on your system.
- Close Set of Books - You may close an open Set of Books. If is recommended to make backups of your data, before closing a Set of Books.
- Delete Set of Books - You may delete or permanently remove a selected Set of Books from your system. This option should be used with caution, as you need to keep your accounting records for a specific period as required by legislation for tax purposes, etc.
- Save As (Set of Books) - You may save a selected Set of Books as an exact copy in a folder anywhere on your system or on a disk.
- Backup / Restore - This option should be used regularly. You should make regular backups of your data and store it in a safe place to protect your data from fire, theft, data corruption, etc.
- Backup Set of Books - The backup option is used to make a backup disk or file and to store the data for a selected Set of Books on a separate folder, file or disk.
- Restore Set of Books - The restore option is used to recover the data from a backup disk or file and to restore the data to its original state as at the time of the backup.
- Switch Language - You may select any of the available languages (English, Afrikaans, Español, French, German, Gibberish, Indonesian, Italian, Xhôsa, etc.). If you have customised the language for your specific requirements, you may also select your specific language or file. The screens in the osFinancials program will be displayed in the selected language.
- Exit osFinancials - This option allows you to close the osFinancials program.
