Open Set of Books Screen

This option is used to open a Set of Books. The Set of Books must already exist in any available directory on your computer system or network. The list of Books that appear in the List box is a composite list of valid osFinancials Sets of Books. Each Set of Books must be kept in a separate directory.

The composite list consists of firstly, all valid Sets of Books under the osFinancials directory (or the directory where osFinancials is installed) and secondly, additional Sets of Books that have been added to the list. (These would be Sets of Books that are in other directories, for example on another part of the hard disk or somewhere on a mapped drive on the network).

To Open a Set of Books:

  1. Click on the File→Open Set of Books menu option, or click on the Open icon.
    Keyboard Access Keyboard Access: - Press the Alt+O keys on your keyboard. Alternatively, press the Alt+F+O keys on your keyboard.
    The Set of Books screen is displayed:

    Tip
    - If a Set of Books is not located in the osFinancials or other directory where osFinancials is installed, (elsewhere on your system) the name of the Set of Books is displayed in a blue colour.</li>

  3. Select the Set of Books which you would like to open.
  4. Click on the Open button.

Browse

The Browse icon will allow you to add a Set of Books to the List. To Browse and add a valid osFinancials Set of Books to the Set of Books list

  1. If you click on the Browse button, you may select from any other Directory. The Browse for Folder screen is displayed.

  2. You must pick a valid osFinancials Set of Books. If the directory does not contain a valid Set of Books, it will not be added to the list.

Purge List

The Purge List icon will remove the highlighted item. This function does not delete the files from the directory. To delete files from a directory you must use the File→Delete Set of Books menu option. You cannot Purge a Set of Books located in the osFinancials Directory. To remove a Set of Books located in the osFinancials Directory, you will need to use the File→Delete Set of Books menu option. If you wish to remove a Set of Books from the list, but keep the files, you need to move the whole Directory out of the osFinancials directory using Windows™ Explorer or other file/folder management program.


Properties

The Properties icon will display the Name of the Set of Books (e.g. TUTORIALA) as well as the holding Directory for the Set of Books named in the list (e.g. C:\osFinancials\Books\TUTORIAL A\books.fdb).

  1. If you click on the Properties icon, the following screen is displayed:

  2. If you need to change any of the properties for the Set of Books, enter the following:
    1. Type in the Name for the Set of Books - Enter a valid name for the Set of Books.
    2. Server -
    3. Type in the path where the Set of Books are stored - Enter the path (i.e. directory (folder) ) where the Set of Books is stored on your system.
    4. Username - Enter a valid username for the Set of Books
    5. Password - Enter a valid password for the Set of Books.
  3. Once done, click on the Change button to save the changes and to exit or close this screen.

Add

The Add icon will display the holding Directory for the Set of Books named in the List.

  1. If you click on the Add icon, the following screen is displayed:

  2. If you need to change any of the properties for the Set of Books, enter the following:
    1. Type in the Name for the Set of Books - Enter a valid name for the Set of Books.
    2. Server -
    3. Type in the path where the Set of Books are stored - Enter the path (i.e. directory (folder) ) where the Set of Books is stored on your system.
    4. Username - Enter a valid username for the Set of Books
    5. Password - Enter a valid password for the Set of Books.
  3. Once done, click on the Change button to save the changes and to exit or close this screen.
